Soon Meng has been involved in public-speaking, teaching and training for more than 20 years. He loves teaching, and conducts his classes with great enthusiasm and humour.

As a corporate trainer and facilitator, Soon Meng has conducted workshops on project planning, risk management, project leadership, management and communications, and critical thinking and problem-solving, among others.

His training has been attended by staff from various organisations, including the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore, Shell, HSBC, Agilent Technologies, Singapore Airlines, Hilton Hotels, DBS Bank, ExxonMobil, CapitalOne, Syngenta, ABB, Telekom Malaysia, Dow Chemical, A*Star, and Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation.

He has conducted corporate training in Japan, China, Hong Kong, Korea, India, Bangladesh, the Philippines, Thailand, Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore.

In addition to corporate training, he also conducts legal training, and his lessons in law have been attended by officers of the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority, Singapore Prison Service, Central Narcotics Bureau, and the Singapore Police Force.

Professional Experience

He has been an Advocate & Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore since 1990 and has practiced with the leading law firms of Rodyk & Davidson and Allen & Gledhill. He is the author of a book on contract law for business people called Contract Smart, Understanding Contract Law in Singapore, published by Marshall Cavendish in 2010.

Soon Meng has also been a regular senior officer in the Singapore Police Force as an Assistant Superintendent of Police. After leaving regular service, he held Police National Service (NS) appointments at Clementi Police Division from 1997 to 2003, including being Commander of the Delta Police National Service Contingent, a force of 2,500 officers. He was selected for the Police Command & Staff Course conducted in Singapore and Nepal in 2000 and was promoted to Deputy Superintendent of Police (NS) in 2001 and to Superintendent of Police (NS) in 2004.

Education and Qualifications

Soon Meng has a Second Upper Honours law degree from the National University of Singapore (NUS) and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management of Northwestern University.

He is certified to administer the Strength Deployment Inventory (SDI) and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI).
